This morning at 10:30 am the whole school community assembled in the PE hall to be presented with Our National Flag.
Firstly two representatives from the Defence Forces were welcomed and greeted by the student Council at the school reception.
Oghlaigh na hEireann then marched through a Guard of Honour, formed by the 5th classes, to the PE hall to hear the Proclamation being read aloud and to present the school flag to the pupils in the school. There was great excitement and a roar went up from the children when Oghlaigh na hEireann gave them their homework off today.
We finished with a rendition of Amhrán na bhFiann, which was sung be every child from Junior Infants to 6th class.
The flag will be raised on March 15th in the school grounds, when all schools in the country will have a day of celebration to commemorate the centenary of the 1916 Rising.
